Your Domain becomes a very valuable asset as your website becomes more popular and traffic increases.
I just read this article about “Domain Name Backordering” and it made me stop and think about this…
The Article: What is Domain Name Backordering? Watch Out For This One!
It sounds like a service that SHOULDN’T exist, but does. Someone could backorder tons of domains for that one chance of someone forgetting to renew.
I have also heard as highlighted in this article that Google is looking at the length someone registers their domain. If you register it for 5 years instead of 1, they might bump your ranking a little for having more staying power. I don’t have any hard proof of this, but it’s a rumor and makes sense…
There are ways to protect yourself from this type of thing… ask your domain registrar what they can do for you.
Another thing to be aware of is that people have had their domains transferred away from them… make sure you have a “domain name lock”.
Just contact your current domain registrar and ask them what you need to do to protect your domain… or at the very least register it for more than a year.
Hope you’ve found this helpful!
That sounds silly doesn’t it? Why would I have to learn how to enter a forum? I just sign up and post right? It would seem on the surface to be that easy, but I see a lot of people have a real hard time…
Over time forums create a very tight community. Everyone learns the rules and looks out for each other… That’s the first thing… Read the rules. Different forums approach how you display links differently or even what you can talk about… The other thing is don’t come in gang busters!! Don’t try to prove yourself and get to excited about showing everyone your knowledge etc…. Get to know the community first.

I know others have had success with it… eZines have become very popular and if it’s a decent size list, niched, relevant to your product, why wouldn’t you be successful at it? You have more control. You know what your audience will be.
Ezines are especially a good thing if you can write an article for an eZine. You establish your expertise and create interest within the article and have a link to your site or product… I like the sites that send out their eZines and post your article on their site (with a link back to your website)… best of both worlds. WebProNew.com does this.
Like anything there is going to be a lot of factors involved… Volume, Quality of the content, how qualified the list is (hopefully an opt in crowd)… not everyone will produce. It’s text, it’s relevant and targeting a group of people who have interest in what you’re doing.
There are places like FreeZineWeb and SwapEzineAds.com where you can track down an eZine related to your product and contact the publisher…
You know you can certainly pay to advertise in eZines, but I personally love FREE advertising. And doing a Joint Venture with someone that has something like an eZine is a perfect way to do it.
You can create an eBook or Report targeted to an eZines readers. To give away! There are a lot of eZine publishers that would love to do that. Why wouldn’t they want to give their subscribers something free. It’s a great reflection on themselves.
That’s how a lot of people build their e-mail lists. They swap advertising or put together mutually beneficial deals.
There’s very little investment… just a little effort.
Here’s a good article I found about Joint Ventures that somes it up nicely…
50 Benefits of Joint Venture Marketing…
I just know from my research it’s a great method used by many. I wish I had more time to pursue it… I can’t do everything.
The more time people spend at your web site, the more time you’ll have to persuade them to buy your product or service. Below are ten powerful ways to
keep visitors at your web site longer.
1. Provide your web site visitors with content they
can’t read anywhere else. People will stay longer at
your web site to read the original content.
2. Remind your web site visitors they can print out
your content. They may browse around your online
store while it’s printing.
3. Offer your web site visitors a freebie if they take
the time to fill out your online survey. They’ll be at
the site longer and might buy something afterwards.
4. Offer your visitors free software that they can
download right from your web site. While they are
waiting they might read your ad.
5. Provide a huge online directory of information
that your visitors could search. The directory must
contain information your visitors would want.
6. Make sure all your web pages load fast or your
visitors will leave fast. Time is precious; they won’t
waste it waiting for your site to load.
7. Tell your visitors what’s offered at your web site
at the very beginning. If people are confused about
what’s being offered they may leave too early.
8. Publish your web site professionally. People will
get turned off and leave if they see a lot of spelling
and grammar mistakes.
9. Make your site text easy to read. Most people
won’t strain their eyes trying to read text that is too
small, light or bright.
10. Use headlines and sub headlines all over your
your web site that will grab visitors attention. It will
attract them to explore your web site longer.
