My Early Morning Wake Up Call

It was September 11, 2001, around 5:15am, I was just getting to station heading for my units office to check in. I had seen some people hanging around the snack area and decided to go say good morning and see what was going on for the day. I had walked over behind the counter when everyone was surrounding the television just in awe. I had no idea yet that the worst thing that could happen to thousands of people and that would be a huge turning point in history was happening. I sit here now typing this getting extremely saddened by the whole thought of what happened that morning. Everyone’s lives were changed that moment. I just happened to look up and my lead supervisor was just staring at me with this blank stare of horror. I had never seen him look like that before. That very instant I looked toward the that big screen t.v. and saw LIVE the second plane crash into the tower. My heart dropped instantly. I was in complete shock and disbelief that what I was watching was real. I could not believe it, I still can’t remember what was going on, except that everyone was scrambling to their stations for further instruction. My supervisor grabbed me and we headed for the debriefing room. He muttered to me on the way, “…everyone’s life is going to change now, at this moment…” The rest is history. I was sent out 6 months later to a classified location for a little over 5 months stay. The details of my sometimes scary experience would be enough to fill an entire blog itself. I was sent out for the next three years only coming home for three months out of each single year. The conditions there were not very nice, I never once complained. There were and are soldiers out there now sleeping on the dirt. Hoping and praying to God not to get blown up or shot. This remembrance is for them and the friends I lost in the war.

Please, if you have any experiences or thoughts about this, reply below with them. I would appreciate it.

Marketing Decisions Are Emotional Ones

blogphotobig.JPG

Just a little blurb about buying on impulse and desperation. I was there in the beginning and have lost a bit of money in the process. Although, this has been a great learning experience and I have met a lot of great people.

My Beginning

I got started a couple years ago when one night
I decided to Google “make money online”. I was working as a brake and alignment technician for this independent tire company based out of Prineville, Oregon. I had been there three years and I was worn out. I was at the bottom of the barrel and always was the one to stay late to finish up the vehicles that weren’t done yet while the other guys left as to not get overtime. I will not get into the politics of that here, it has no bearing. Well one night, like I said, I went online in search of something more that would help me out of the ‘rat race’. I was doing the ‘80/20 rule’ backwards. I was working 80 percent of the time and receiving 20 percent in return. Along my surfing journey, I found so many programs offering the world and bought into most of them. I did not know any better back then, I was just looking for a way to get out of the day to day waste I was living. I know many people now are reading this and saying that is me now. My buying impulses were based off of the emotional stress of getting out of the “living paycheck to paycheck” lifestyle. I wanted the fancy car, large home, ability to work in my pajamas image that all these “gurus” offered with their products. Never going to happen that way, I learned thousands of dollars later. That is why finding a mentor from the beginning is the best start.

Making Buying Decisions On Feelings

Feelings and emotions are one of the most powerful influences we have. Think back for a minute and try to think of anything that you have purchased where your emotions have not played a major part in the decision process. We use our emotions to visualize ourselves benefiting from the purchase of a particular product or service. Without these feelings, I think, the human being will be incapable of making any decision.

That is how these ‘gurus’ promising thousands within 30 days were able to make a ton of money. Using that emotion of human beings to make them pull out their wallats. So when people are surfing the net for that golden goose to help them out of the lifestyle that hordes them down, the decisions that are made are from desperation and the need to solve their problems.

Problogging: Making Money From Blogs

Here are some tips for the beginner blogger … To start with the basics: A weblog (or simply blog) is a website that 'publishes' or features articles (which are called 'blog posts', 'posts', or 'entries'), written by an individual or a group that make use of any or a combination of the following:

  •     Straight texts
  •     Photographs or images (photoblog)
  •     Video (videoblog)
  •     Audio files (audioblog)
  •     Hyperlinks

Usually presented and arranged in reverse chronological order, blogs are essentially used for the following purposes:

  •     Online journal or a web diary
  •     Content management system
  •     Online publishing platform

A typical blog has the following components:

  1.    Post date -the date and time of the blog entry
  2.    Category - the category that the blog belongs to
  3.    Title - the title of the blog
  4.    Main body - the main content of the blog
  5.    RSS and trackback - links the blog back from other sites
  6.    Comments - commentaries that are added by readers
  7.    Permalinks - the URL of the full article
  8.    Other optional items - calendar, archives, blogrolls, and add-ons or plug-ins

A blog can also have a footer, usually found at the bottom of the blog, that shows the post date, the author, the category, and the 'stats' (the nubmer of comments or trackbacks).

 Types Of Blogs:

1. Political blog - on news, politics, activism, and other issue based blogs (such as campaigning).
2. Personal blog - also known as online diary that may include an individual's day-to-day experience, complaints, poems, and illicit thoughts, and communications between friends.
3. Topical blog - with focus either on a particular niche (function or position) that is usually technical in nature or a local information.
4. Health blog - on specific health issues. Medical blog is a major category of health blog that features medical news from health care professionals and/or actual patient cases.
5. Literary blog - also known as litblog.
6. Travel blog - with focus on a traveler's stories on a particular journey.
7. Research blog - on academic issues such as research notes.
8. Legal blog - on law (technical areas) and legal affairs; also known as 'blawgs'.
9. Media blog - focus on falsehoods or inconsistencies in mass media; usually exclusive for a newspaper or a television network. 10. Religious blog - on religious topics
11. Educational blog - on educational applications, usually written by students and teachers.
12. Collaborative or collective blog - a specific topic written by a group of people.
13. Directory blog - contains a collection of numerous web sites.
14. Business blog - used by entrepreneurs and corporate employees to promote their businesses or talk about their work.
15. Personification blog - focus on non-human being or objects (such as dogs).
16. Spam blogs - used for promoting affiliated websites; also known as 'splogs'. Blogging is typically done on a regular (almost daily) basis. The term "blogging" refers to the act of authoring, maintaining, or adding an article to an existing blog, while the term "blogger" refers to a person or a group who keeps a blog. Today, more than 3 million blogs can be found in the Internet. This figure is continuously growing, as the availability of various blog software, tools, and other applications make it easier for just about anyone to update or maintain the blog (even those with little or no technical background). Because of this trend, bloggers can now be categorized.
